Meet Mary Richardson!

Growing up I was always eagerly in the yard by my father's side, pruning, weeding,  mowing,  so. I tend to say I inherited a "Green Thumb".I knew I wanted to. pursue. something to do with art, and started college in graphic design. Later on, the realization came that I could combine my passions. for both art and nature by studying Landscape Architecture. I find divine and profound inspiration when studying the depths of beauty, form, and function in Mother Nature.

Along with the greatest example of design in nature, I also. glean ideas through mentors in the. field of Landscape Architecture, from suppliers of various products, and from online resources. As a volunteer with my local watershed council, I am able to continually expand my horizon regarding how specific ecosystems and Lake Michigan shorelines rely on eco-friendly design practices. 

I see each design as a "Master Plan", and a chance to build your dream outdoor living space, So through initial meetings, sketches, and concepts, it is important to have the homeowner closely involved from concept to implementation. My role is to guide clients through every aspect of the design: aesthetic, product options, color & texture, functionality, budgeting, phasing, and long-term goals.

Throughout the production of the drawing and allowing creativity to flow, I tend to get excited about the overall vision myself. I always want someone to be genuinely excited and confident about all aspects of the plan. Visualizing renderings in 3D is a valuable tool for a true "WOW" factor. I also strive for someone to feel that their design is authentically customized to their personal style.
