Meet Leah DeVries!

I have always loved being creative and I knew it was something I wanted to pursue in the workforce. I went to school for Fashion Merchandising but couldn't find something that inspired me and allowed me to fully create something. When I started at Groen, I was in an administrative role, but quickly realized that my passion was in the designs. Thankfully the Groen team could see this as well and gave me the opportunity to try something completely new. Creating designs has allowed me to do what I had been seeking in fashion. Once I got familiarized with plants and products, I have been able to create new and exciting designs for customers. I love that I can continually improve myself and bring our clients' visions to life!

I like to hear what a client wants first and build off of that. Each person is so different and it's fun to come up with new ideas to go with their personal style. If I ever get stuck on a design, Pinterest has been a great resource to gather inspiration from as well!

I think most people are more visual so it helps to be able to see. rather than trying to explain. A lot can be lost in translation so it's helpful to see the design and be on the same page. I love adding the little details to give a full feel for the space. Things like furniture and decor can bring the space to life and help the client see themselves in that space.

I want them to feel excited! this is an extension of their home and I want them to feel that way. I want them to imagine the afternoon cookouts, evenings on their patio, or wine nights by the fireplace. This is why we call it "Outdoor Living"!
